October, 2017
- Gave a short (5 minutes) speech at a demonstration / rally in Hamtramck on Sunday, Oct 1 to voice anguish and concern over the persecution and genocide of the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
- Br Syed Raziuddin Ali—a Geologist by profession and resident of Bahrain gave a presentation of his well-known ATMT (Awareness Through Mosque Tour) presentation at AMDA on Friday, October 6 at 7:00 pm on occasion of the Friday Night Family Event.
- Br Amin Varis gave the khatira after Fajr Prayer on Saturday, Oct 7.
- There was a sisters’ halaqa on Saturday, Oct 7 on the topic: “Rekindling the Spark – A Special Talk on Marriage in Islam.”
- MYAMDA – the youth wing of AMDA, organized an Apple Orchard Trip to Blake’s Farms Apple Orchard on October 7.
- Delivered a khutba on Friday, Oct 13 on the topic: “Why is there Suffering in this World?”
- Delivered a khatira after Fajr prayers on Saturday, Oct 14.
- Delivered a khutba on Friday, Oct 20 at the Islamic Association of Greater Detroit (IAGD).
- Delivered a khatira after Fajr prayers on Saturday, Oct 21 on the topic: “Sources of Barakah.”
- Br Jim Smith, formerly a Christian, declared his testimony of Islamic faith (shahadah) at AMDA Masjid after Dhuhr prayers on Saturday, Oct 21. He had visited a mosque for the first time on our open house day on Sept 23.
- Conducted a meeting after Fajr prayers on Sunday, Oct 24 to finalize the schedule for the upcoming Sirah conference. Participants were brothers Moin, Obair, Zeeshan, and Sr Marina.
- Delivered a khutba on Friday, Oct 27 on the topic: “Protecting Ourselves from Atheism.”
- Delivered a khatira after Fajr prayers on Saturday, Oct 28 on the topic: “How The Food We Eat Affects Our Spirituality.”
- Br Jim Smith, a recent convert to Islam was invited to lunch at AMDA after Dhuhr prayers on Saturday, Oct 28 to be introduced to the community. Many members of the Board also participated.
- MYAMDA – the youth wing of AMDA, organized the MYAMDA Kids Fun Night at Chuck e Cheese, 13745 Lakeside Circle, Sterling Heights, MI 48313 on Oct 31from 6: pm to 8:00 pm.
- The tafsir of few verses of the Qur’an were delivered every day after Salat ul Fajr.
- The weekly Quran classes were conducted on every Wednesday and Thursday.
- The “Ideal Muslim Halaqa” series were conducted on every Friday after Maghrib/Isha prayers other than on the first Friday of the month.
