Monthly Report
March, 2015
· Held two classes every week in the Masjid to help students learn Arabic for the purpose of understanding the Qur’an.
· Wrote a ‘Letter of Support’ in favor of the Michigan Chapter of the ‘Council on American Islamic Relations’ (CAIR- MI). The letter was published/showcased in their Banquet Book on the occasion of their 15th Annual Banquet Event that was held on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Burton Manor, Livonia, MI.
· On an invitation received from CAIR- MI, attended its 15th Annual Banquet Event on Sunday, March 08, and represented AMDA on the Imams’ table.
· Organized a presentation entitled, ‘Our Legal Rights’ that was conducted by the Legal Attorney of CAIR – MI, Sr. Lena Masry. The presentation took place during the Family Night Dinner Program at AMDA on Friday, March 06
· My transcript on ‘Tafsir of Surat al-Fatihah’ was transmitted for uploading on AMDA’s website.
· My transcript of Friday Khutba entitled ‘Racism’, ‘Sources of Barakah’, and ‘Our obligations to the Qur’an’ were transmitted for uploading on AMDA’s website.
· After seeking Board’s approval, made a referral for Dr. Amanullah Dada, Principal of AMDA’s Sunday for the purpose of recommending him as a voluntary part time instructor of Islamic Studies for the Muslim inmates of the ‘Cooper Street Correctional Facility’, Jackson, Michigan. The referral was sent to Mr. Will Taylor, Chaplain of that Facility.
· On Saturday, March 14, along with our three sisters from the community, had a meeting in the Masjid with sister Natalie Redmond, a young college student of Jewish faith, and clarified the queries that she had about Islam and Muslims. She also observed us praying the Zuhr prayers in congregation and was shown around the Masjid.
· Emailed to AMDA’s board and other key persons about our proposed ‘Open House Event’ to be held on June 6, 2015. While making some suggestions, also invited ideas and suggestions from all concerned.
· Attended the Helping Hand Banquet held to celebrate their 10 years of service to humanity.
· Had a meeting in the Masjid with Brothers Zeeshan, Obair, and Fahad to discuss the proposal for the upcoming June ‘Masjid Open House” Event.
· Attended the 12th Annual Imams Conference (March 20-22) organized by ‘The Muslim Jurists of America’ (AMJA) at Chicago.
