  • Delivered a talk on Friday, Jan 2 on the occasion of AMDA’s Friday Family Dinner Event. The topic was: “Celebrating the Prophet’s Birthday.”

  • Delivered a Khatira on the topic ‘Mawlid al-Nabi’ after Fajr prayers on Saturday, Jan 3.

  • Emailed on Jan 7 my suggestions/recommendations to Dr. Muhammad Azim for the proposed Feb 28 Fundraising Dinner at AMDA. 

  • Delivered the Jumu’ah Khutba on January 9.

  • Attended a seminar for the Imams on Sunday, January 10 at Tawhid Center, Farmington Hills to discuss the problem of drug and substance abuse among youth.

  • The presentation to be made on January 16 on the topic: ‘Islam and Muslims’ to the inmates of the ‘Town @ Village’ (Senior Living Complex) situated close to our Masjid was postponed due to some maintenance work going on at the complex.  

  • On Saturday, January 17, had a meeting with AMDA’s Board of Trustees to discuss what we achieved in terms of activities of the past year (2014) and to draw out a plan for activities of the current year (2015). The minutes were circulated to AMDA’s Trustees/ Representatives/SC members. 

  • In an Inter-faith setting on Sunday, January 18, attended the ‘Martin Luther King Jr’ Anniversary Celebration at the Islamic House of Wisdom (Dearborn Heights). The theme was: ‘Building the Beloved Community: Sharing a Common Theme.’

  • Made an email inquiry on Jan 19 with Imam Abdullah El-Amin, Imam of ‘Muslim Center, Detroit’ regarding funeral service provided by his organization and the breakdown of the charges. He replied that he would revert with all details.

  • Emailed a proposal on January 20, to AMDA’s Board of trustees regarding holding interfaith events at AMDA.

  • Registration for classes to learn Arabic for the purpose of understanding the Qur’an began this month. Starting January 21, the classes will be held in the Masjid on every Wednesday and Thursday before Isha prayers.

  • On Saturday, January 24, made a presentation at AMDA to a group of students of Central Michigan University (CMU), accompanied by their Professor, Dr. Lance Miller. The topic of discussion was: ‘The Islamic Perspective of ‘Death & Dying.’

  • Sent an email on Jan 26 to trustees of AMDA’s Board regarding giving boost to youth activities at AMDA.

  • Two halaqas for sisters were organized on two different dates during the month in the Masjid. Sister Sobia Hassan gave discourses on ‘Remembrance of Allah’ and ‘Curing the love for Duniya.’  

  • Extended an official invitation to Br Omar Malik (youth leader of IONA) to be a guest speaker on Feb 6 at our Friday Family Night Dinner.

  • Delivered the Friday khutba on Jan 30 on the topic: “Importance, Virtues and Etiquettes of Jumu’ah.”

  • Delivered a Khatira on Saturday, Jan 31 after Fajr prayers.

  • Organized on Jan 31 a meeting between the trustees of AMDA’s Board and AMDA’s Youth Coordinator and participated in the meeting to discuss ways and means of promoting youth activities at AMDA.
