June, 2014
06-04-14 – Attended the ‘Pastoral Care Program for Imams’ conducted at IONA, Warren, MI by Prof. Dr. Urias Beverly from the ‘Ecumenical Theological Seminary’, Detroit. Dr. Beverly shared his experiences of dealing with and counseling people in the community who come to Pastors/Imams to seek advice to overcome their mental, psychological, and spiritual problems.
06-04-14 – Gave a short talk on the Month of Sha’ban after the Maghrib prayers.
06-05-14 – Conducted the weekly class for the course entitled, ‘Learning Arabic to Understand the Qur’an’ in AMDA Masjid.
06-06-14 – Emailed class notes and ‘Assignment for the Week’ to students of AMDA’s Qur’an Class.
06-06-14 – Delivered Friday Khutba at IONA.
06-06-14 – Delivered a talk on the topic, “The Month of Sha’ban: Time of Preparation for a Productive Ramadan’ on the occasion of the ‘Friday Night Family Dinner Event’ held at the AMDA Masjid.
06-07-14 – Sent email to Brothers Ferdous, Zeeshan, Muhammad Azim, Moin Asjad and Javid Khatri with a request to let AMDA participate in the ‘Food Packing and Distribution Campaign’ being organized by Zaman International on Tuesday, June 24. Volunteers were required for only one to three hours on that day.
06-08-14 – Went over the minutes of the June 07 board meeting which was forwarded to me by Br Shafiq Islam. Thanked Br Shafiq Islam and requested him to copy me the minutes of the board meeting every month so that I remain informed and updated about AMDA’s latest policies and activities.
06-09-14 – Spoke to the members of the community after Isha prayers requesting them not to fall into dispute regarding prayer timings published by the Management of the Masjid as that created and promoted a climate of fitna. They agreed that they would henceforth not argue unnecessarily to effect changes in the timing published by the Masjid in its premises, on its website and on the AMDA prayer timings app.
06-10-14 – Sent an email to Imam Faizul Khan of Washington DC who was kind enough to send me da’wah materials by mail. Informed Brothers Muhammad Azim, Min Asjad and Javid Khatri that I’ll keep the da’wah materials in our Masjid for the benefit of the community.
06-11-14 – Gave a short talk after the Maghrib prayers.
06-12-14 – Conducted the weekly class for the course entitled, ‘Learning Arabic to Understand the Qur’an’ in AMDA Masjid.
06-13-14 – Emailed class notes and ‘Assignment for the Week’ to students of AMDA’s Qur’an Class.
06-13-14 – Delivered Friday Khutba on the topic, ‘Making Best Use of Time’
06-14-14 – Edited and emailed the transcript of my Friday Khutba on the topic: ‘‘Making Best Use of Time’ delivered on June 13, 2014 for uploading on AMDA’s website.
06-17-14 – Attended the Imams Council Meeting in the evening at the Muslim Unity Center, Bloomfield Hills, MI. Imam Majid, President of ISNA was the guest speaker. He sought the cooperation of Imams to make ISNA’s 51st Annual Convention to be held in August, 2014 in Detroit a great success.
06-18-14 – Gave a short talk on after the Maghrib prayers.
06-19-14 – Conducted the weekly class for the course entitled, ‘Learning Arabic to Understand the Qur’an’ in AMDA Masjid.
06-20-14 – Delivered Friday Khutba. Announced about the ‘Ramadan Iftar Dinner Sponsorship’ for sponsoring Iftar dinner in the Masjid on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the month of Ramadan.
06-23-14 – Emailed to Brothers Moin, M. Azim, and Javid the template of ‘Certificate of Declaration of Islamic Faith’ that needs to be discussed and approved by the board.
06-23-14 – Received email from Dr Salah AlSawy, Secretary General of the ‘Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America’ (AMJA) asking me to suggest some sub topics for the Annual Conference of Imams on March 20-22, 2015 in Chicago on the topic: ‘Contemporary Issues of Masajid and Islamic Centers in the West’. These sub topics should relate to issues on which collective fatwas can be issued by authentic Fiqh scholars. Forwarded the email to Brothers Moin, M. Azim, and Javid for their review and suggestions that they may have.
06-23-14 – Requested Brothers Moin Asjad, Muhammad Azim, and Javid Khatri to sit together with me to have the final version of the ‘Certificate of Marriage’ and ‘marriage contract’ drafted for approval by the board.
06-24-14 – Represented AMDA by participating in the ‘Food Distribution Drive’ organized by ‘Zaman International’ at the Bint Jebail Cultural Center in Dearborn.
06-25-14 – Gave a short talk on ‘sins committed by the limbs’ after the Maghrib prayers.
