The following topics were discussed, decisions were taken.
- Minutes of December 2012 and January 2013 Board meeting were approved unanimously.
- Br. Javid Khatri presented the amount collected from Jumma for the month of January.
- Br. Moudud Rahman presented the detail expenditures for the month of January, 2013.
- Br. Khatri informed that the surveillance cameras were installed inside the masjid, outside cameras and sensor lights will be installed when the weather improves.
5. Fundraising at other masjids-
* IAGD – Request has been made, they would decide in their Board meeting on 2/3/13. Br. Habeeb and Br. Khatri to follow up.
* Towheed Center – Br. Mahiuddin is the lead to contact Towheed Center. Target is to have a fundraising there in April 2013, if permitted.
* Unity Center – Br. Jami will be the lead for Unity center. Target date for the fundraising event – June, 2013.
* Canton Masjid – Br. Zakirul Haque and Br. Azim are the lead for Canton Masjid. Target date for Fundraising event – May, 2013.
* Masjid Noor – Br. Azim is the lead
* IONA masjid – Br. Patwary is the lead
* Turkish Community – Br. Moudud is the lead
* Toledo Masjid – Br. Zakirul Haque is the lead
* Brownstown Masjid – Br. Patwary is the lead
* Flint Masjid – Br. Patwary and Br. Azim is the lead - Fund Raising Event on February 9, 2013 at Balkan Community Center
* Calling people – Br. Ashraf will send the calling list to all Board members. Calling has to be completed by 2/3/13.
* Facility – All Board members will report at the Balkan Center at 3:00 PM on 2/9/13 for set-up. Youths are encouraged to help and will be given certificate for volunteering hours.
* Food – Already ordered, Br. Ashraf is the lead
* Pizza – will be ordered, Br. Abid Rahman is the lead
* Drinks – Water in pitchers will be supplied from Balkan Center
* Ice – Br. Iftekhar is the lead
* Supplies (plates, napkins, cups, etc.) – Br. Hashem and Br. Ashraf are the lead
* Money collection – Br. Zakirul Haque is the lead for gate collection. Br. Mahiuddin will help. Br. Khatri is the lead for Pledge from, donation collection, and accounting at the event. Br. Habeeb, Br. Moin, and Br. Dulal Mostafa will assist him.
* AMDA point of contact with Balkan Center – Br. Shahidul will act as the liaison between AMDA and Balkan Center.
* Speaker – Br. Imam El-Basheer will be conducting the fund raising. Br. Abdur Rahman may be available to speak. Need to confirm.
* Prayer Rugs – Br. Iftekhar, Br. Shafiq, and Br. Shahidul will get the prayer rugs from AMDA to Balkan Center. Everyone will help to bring those back to AMDA Masjid. - Advisor selection – Br. Shafiq proposed an individual’s name as an advisor to AMDA Board, seconded by Br. Mahiuddin. Some Board members left the meeting before this agenda item was discussed. The following members were present and unanimously approved the nomination:
Shahidul Khan, Zakirul Haque, Iftekhar Chisty, Moin Asjad, Shafiq Islam, Moudud Rahman, Muhammad Azim, and Mahiuddin Ahmed. - Br. Shafiq will contact the proposed individual to pursue his acceptance and will notify the Board accordingly as soon as possible.
- Hafez for Ramadan – The following members will pursue their contacts to find Hafez(s) for the coming Ramadan – Br. Shafiq, Br. Azim, and Br. Moin are the lead.
- Imam search – The search committee updated the Board members on the status. Committee is still looking for a suitable Imam. The meeting approved for a 4 (four) week advertisement seeking Imam in the Muslim Observer to appear in alternate weeks.
