Total Expenses & Donations received as of 03/04/2023:
Total Expenses in February were $39,383 that includes $29,500 zakat disbursement.
Total Donation Received in February were $21,610 that includes $11,774 donations for
Syria/Turkey Earthquake relief.
- AMDA Sunday School Update – Purpose Info /Discussion 09:25AM – 09:35AM
Br Azeem proposed a review of Sunday School Curriculum & teachers be trained not to by-pass the principal. Teachers are taking the leadership role, instead of Principal Dada. Br Jami felt that students don’t want to come to Sunday School, so instead of classroom only we need to engage them in hands-on leadership roles. We should Invite Br Haroon ur Rasheed with extensive experience to Sunday School.
- AMDA Youth Activities proposals Discussion – Br Masud: Purpose Info/Discussion 09:35AM – 09:55AM
Br Masood to communicate with Imam Tazim Khan on Youth Activities so there is no miscommunication. Br Noor Alam mentioned since Youth Club was formed with Tazim Khan, the sub-committee should communicate with it. Br Taufique agreed we all can get involved but go through proper channels. Br Shahrooz felt that youth bring a lot of experience but must work with sub-committee. Br Noor noted that youth were trying to get Board approval instead of getting in touch with sub-committee. Br Azim felt there was no need for a youth club, since we already have youth sub-committee. Br Ferdous wanted everyone to know the names of the current youth sub-committee namely, Br Tazim Khan, Br Shahrooz, Br Anam & Br Masud. Br Moin suggested youth sub-committee must step up in leadership role & encourage individuals to come with proposals and help the youth to execute program. Br Masud delayed drawing competition to accommodate Br Tazim’s 30-minute youth pilot program on Saturday.
- AMDA weekday evening Maktab proposal – Br Moin: Purpose Info/Discussion 09:55AM – 10:15AM
Br Moin informed the members of the response to Maktab proposal on Family night. He mentioned that there was a huge interest & positive feedback for the program. He said out of the 40 people who heard the proposal, 6 people signed up. Br Tazim also got feedback from 3 to 4 parents who would send their child to the proposed evening Maktab. Br Noor talked to a couple of people who wanted to be part of the program. The proposal was very well received. There was a suggestion to propose class for parents to properly recite the Quran. This will make the evenings a Family program instead of child drop off. Br Ferdous was concerned who will manage the Maktab & its financing and who are people associated with it. It was mentioned by Br Jami that there was no website for Sunday school, while Maktab has one. Br Moin clarified that Sunday school has website since 2016 & it can be accessed at academy.amda.us or through AMDA website. Maktab was necessary to have balance between Deen & Duniya. Br Jami was concerned that Sunday School was not informed about the evening Maktab. Br Moin clarified that Br Faizul Momen was aware of evening Maktab proposal in addition to Br Anam and Br Noor before it was discussed in February 2023 Joint Meeting. There was a consensus to hold a separate meeting to educate everyone about Maktab, to discuss the proposal for the Maktab & iron out all the issues that are being asked by the members. A Special Joint Meeting email notice will be sent to Members of the Boards.
- AMDA Expansion/Construction Update – Sub-committee: Purpose Follow-up 10:15AM – 10:35AM
The construction committee comprising of Br Ferdous, Br Khatri, Br Anwar, Br Moin informed the members about the two construction managers who made the bids. One bid was $8.1 million & the other was for 5.4 million. Br Azim asked why a huge difference between the two bidders was there. Br Ferdous responded by saying the main difference in the bids was in quote for steel, concrete & masonry. Bidders got their estimates from sub-contractors. The second bidder will complete the expansion in 36 months, but it can be done in 24 months if we have the money. The bid for $5.4 million was approved unanimously. Since there were more questions about the bids and financing the expansion, it was decided to hold a separate meeting to further discuss the bids in detail.
- Ramadan Preparation: Confirmation of Hafiz for Taraveeh & Fundraising Speaker 10:35AM – 10:45AM
The renumeration for the Hafiz performing the Taraveeh was agreed upon. Br Tazim will only get bonus for Eid-ul Fitr. Fundraising speaker Br Shaikh Al Bashir was confirmed & his renumeration was discussed.
- Request by different Islamic Organizations for Donation in Ramadan Br Sadiq 10:45AM – 11:05AM
List of Organizations that contacted Imam Tazim & Organizations that contacted the AMDA Board Members for fund-raising in Ramadan in 2023 was distributed and discussed. All the Boards members were in agreement that AMDA will allow six organizations from the list to do fund-raising only during weekday. The days AMDA will only do their own fund-raising will be 1st April, night of 27th of Ramadan and Fridays & Weekends. Imam Tazim will schedule their fund-raising two days every week in Ramadan after our own Fund-raising on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Boards members will be informed by Br Tazim when schedule in ready. Once Br Tazim gets Boards members feedback, he will contact organizations.
- Round Table discussion – All Brothers & Sisters present 11:05AM – 11:15AM
There was a discussion on sponsorship amount to be determined this year for Ramadan iftar on Fridays & Saturdays. The Boards members agreed on $400 per sponsor. If there is money left over, it may be used to pay for additional Iftar on the Sunday(s) before Ramadan or on Eid day refreshments.
