- AMDA Sunday School Update – Purpose Info 09:30AM – 09:40AM
Br Kaysuzzaman mentioned that at Sunday School new students are having problem catching up to the older students. Br Azim expressed concerns about Quran teaching as students are not able to memorize surah from last Sipara since parents are not involved with them at home. Without daily repetition it is hard for them to recite Quran correctly. Level 1 & 2 students need more lessons. It was suggested to contact Hafiz Fakhrul Islam to come to Sunday School from 10 -12 am. Br Ziaul Haque will follow up with him. Br Ferdous also pointed out that some parents without key fobs were stranded outside.
- AMDA Youth Activities proposals Discussion – Br Masud: Purpose Info/Discussion 09:40AM – 10:20AM
Br Masud made the presentation of 14 slides on youth activities in his proposal. His proposals were well received with some recommendations by members. There was a suggestion to change the title “Seminar on Caste & Indian Religion Interfaith” as it too geopolitical in nature. On the “Imam Tazim Camp Night” Sr Afroza suggested the event to be for more than one night, to make it worth the effort. Br Noor Alam suggested to combine “Muslim Issue Advocacy/Know Your Local Leader” with another event instead of a single event. Sr Afroza suggested to invite professionals to come to the “Career Discussion” event to benefit the students. AABA (American Association of Bangladeshi Engineers & Architects) can also be invited to speak. Br Azim suggested that we should invite businessmen to make motivational presentation on “Muslim Business & Entrepreneurship.” Br. Masud was approved to go forward with the March Youth activity proposal.
- AMDA weekday evening school proposal – Br Moin: Purpose Info/Discussion 10:20AM – 10:45AM
Br Moin made a presentation of “weekday evening school proposal”. It was suggested to charge the parents $200 per month for 2 to 3 day a week program. Sr Afroza & Br Abid had concerns about conflict with regular school homework time. It was proposed to make presentation at March Family meeting to the parents. Br Kaysuzzaman suggested to make a presentation to Sunday School’s parents to gauge their interest and to hold a focused session for Maktab proposal. Br Moin agreed to hold it after March Friday Night Family Event. It was informed by Br Ferdous that similar evening program are being held in Hamtramck. Br Moin will find out if Maktab can provide video clips of their programs.
- AMDA Expansion/Construction Update – Sub-committee: Purpose Follow-up 10:45AM – 10:55AM
Br Ferdous announced that meeting with a bidder is set for next Saturday at 2:30 pm Br Kaysuzzaman mentioned after Saturday 2/11/23, we should all meet to finalize selection of bidder. Br Moin agreed.
- Ramadan Preparation: Confirmation of Hafiz for Taraveeh & Fundraising Speaker 10:55AM – 11:15AM
Br Azim confirmed that Br Abdullah Ehsan has agreed to be one of the huffaz for Taraveeh. Another Hafiz Br Sarwar Ahmad called to let AMDA know that he was upset that he was not chosen to lead Taraveeh. As a compromise it was suggested to let him lead Tahajjud prayers this Ramadan.
Sr Marina mentioned that Br Dawood Walid is not available as Fund Raising Speaker. Besides he was not paid $500 for being the speaker last time. Br Moin offered to approach Br Al Bashir to be Speaker.
Br Moin suggested that we continue the practice of accepting $300 donation for Friday/Saturday Iftar. It was agreed to hold the Iftar events as previous years.
During the absence of Br Tazeem Khan on Umrah, Br Abdullah Ehsan will take care of his responsibilities. It was recommended to pay him $1,500 for his services during the two-week period.
It was also agreed that Br Tazeem will not get separate payment as Hafiz for Taraveeh Prayers. He will still be paid for leading the Eid Prayers and as usual the Eid bonus.
- Request by different Islamic Organizations for Donation in Ramadan 11:15AM – 11:20AM
It was mentioned AMDA assigns slots for fundraising during Ramadan to institutions based on when the requests were received.
- Proposal to make AMDA key fobs for both spouses. Purpose Decision 11:20AM – 11:25AM
This proposal was brought during Sunday School discussion. It will be conveyed to Br Foez Chowdery to only assign key fobs to those parents who request it, so as not to inconvenience them at school time.
- Constitution Amendment Subcommittee Formation Update: 11:25AM – 11:25AM
Br Jami was not present at the meeting.
- Round Table discussion – All Brothers & Sisters present 11:25AM – 11:30AM
Ramadan timetable was shared by Br Moin with the attendees with a request for feedback urgently.
