  • Delivered a khutba on Friday, Dec I, on the topic: “Background of the Challenges faced by the Ummah.”

 

  • Moderated on Friday, Dec 1 the first session of the Seerah Conference. The guest speaker—Imam Lela of IAGD gave a speech on the legacy of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and his role as a shepherd of the people and the community.

 

  • Delivered a khatira after Fajr prayers on Saturday, Dec 2 on the topic: “Making Best Use of Time.”

 

  • The 2nd session of the Seerah Conference was held After Salat ul Dhuhr onwards. There were seven speakers including two sisters who spoke to a “sisters only” session.

 

  • Br Khalid Iqbal, founder of Rahmaa Institute that provides family and pre-marital counseling services gave the 1st Friday khutba at AMDA on Friday, Dec 8 on a topic related to khilafa and dawah. Br Omar Malik, previously the youth director at IONA gave the 2nd Friday khutba at AMDA on the same day. Br Khalid also gave a khatira after Fajr prayers on Saturday, Dec 9.

 

  • Nick Marinello, a teacher at the Chippewa Valley High School located at 18300 19 Mile Rd, Charter Twp of Clinton, MI requested on phone whether or not someone from AMDA would be interested to take a one-time, one-hour class on Islam and answer general questions on Islam and Muslims raised by students studying world religions at that school. The teacher and the students want to listen about Islam from an insider of the Muslim community. Notified the board about my inclination to conduct the class so as to dispel a few misconceptions about Islam from young minds.

 

  • Girls Youth Night was conducted at AMDA by Sister Madiha on Friday, Dec 8th at 7:00 pm.

 

  • Had a meeting on Saturday, Dec 9 with brothers Obair Siddiqi and Zeeshan Rizwan to evaluate our recently conducted Seerah Conference.

 

  • Forwarded to AMDA’s board (along with my recommendations) a proposal made by Brother Johar Shaik to hold a class and teach basic Arabic grammar at AMDA for the purpose of understanding what we recite in salah, and the Qur’an.

 

  • Talked to several members of the community regarding making a team of those brothers and sisters from the AMDA community who intended to perform Hajj in 2018 with me as their team leader for Hajj.

 

  • Delivered a khatira after Fajr prayers on Saturday, Dec 16th on the topic: “Constant Remembrance of Allah (SWT.”

 

  • A Sisters Halaqa on the topic “Bringing Blessing into our Homes” was conducted at AMDA by Sister Samreen on Saturday, Dec 16th at 2:00 pm.

 

  • Attended the Imams Council Meeting on Wednesday, Dec 20th at the ‘Muslim Unity Center in Bloomfield Hills.

 

  • Delivered a khutba on Friday, Dec 22nd at IONA on the topic: “Sunnah of Good Communication.”

 

  • Dr Ramzi Muhammad delivered a khatira after Fajr prayers on Saturday, Dec 23rd.

 

  • Delivered a khutba on Friday, Dec 29th on the topic: “Sincerity: An Essential Part of Our Deen.”

 

  • Conducted the Nikah of Synthea Rahman & Shafayet Ahmed at the Troy Community Center on Friday, Dec 29th.

 

  • Conducted the Nikah of Nashita Molla & Nurus Shamsh Chowdhury at AMDA Masjid on Sunday, Dec 31st.

 

  • The tafsir of few verses of the Qur’an were delivered every day after Salat ul Fajr.

 

  • The weekly Quran classes were conducted on every Wednesday and Thursday. There was a break given in the last two weeks as some students were on vacation or out of town.

 

  • The “Ideal Muslim Halaqa” series were conducted on every Friday after Isha prayers other than on the first Friday of the month.
